HI there:
I would like to play a little with AMILDA. I am planning to use the ethernet cable(utp) without using the ethernet protocol. I mean, I would like to have some device on the far end of the ethernet cable and the other end connected to the router. Send some signals from this device(like in SCADA systems) and monitor them on the router.
I want to make a very simple "protocol" over the first layer to undesrtand this signals and to send others to the device.
Do u know if somebody else is doing something equivalent to this on AMILDA?
Do u know where should i begin to find information about this?
I am trying to understand how ethernets works , but I haven't found yet where it's specified how to manage the signals, values, etc.
PS: I hope i was clear.

Hi
I don't think such thing it possible, asi the ethernet controller is just that, a plain ethernet controller + switch. It doesn't allow controlling the different lines independently. What you could use is the GPIO pins (like the one that serves the "ON" led). Those ones are fully programmable (input & output).
