USB mass storage

Hi,
I did some work on usb, now USB mass storage seems to work...

# hub.c: new USB device ahci-1, assigned address 2
alloc TD_Addr[3]... 0
Manufacturer: Sony
Product: USB Storage Media
SerialNumber: 0A1A920D240056C1
scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
Vendor: Sony      Model: Storage Media     Rev: 3.04
Type:   Direct-Access                      ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
SCSI device sda: 63616 512-byte hdwr sectors (33 MB)
sda: Write Protect is off
Partition check:
sda: sda1 sda2 sda3 sda4     ==> It's very strange, my disk only has one partition.

But I am not sure it is all ok...  Maybe it still has some bugs...
By the way, the adm5120 usb architecture and usb driver really sucks.   sad

Re: USB mass storage

Hi

Please don't forget to submit your updated driver, so it can be included on the next version.

Regards,

Sergio

How can I submit my usb driver?
I have worked on usb driver for a long time since linux-2.4.27.
Should I merge my work into linux-2.4.32? or just tar drivers/usb and send it out?
Thanks.

Re: USB mass storage

Hi

You can use bugzilla at BugZilla. Submit a bug, with the "Enhancement" priority. There send all the files you need, but please only plain text.

Regards,

Sergio

I failed to merge my work into AMiLDA 2.4.32 kernel, even copied whole drivers/usb directory.. sad
The kernel always crashed after plugging usb device.
I need more time to find the reason.

Re: USB mass storage

Hi

Please try the kernel included in AMiLDA 0.4.10. Earlier versions have a bug (that i introduced when i forgot a couple of lines while patching) which will make most USB devices fail.

Sergio

Re: USB mass storage

TRC1109 ( and Sergio )

0.4.10 will still NOT work with USB until the correct kernel config options are
being picked up.

So the patch as described in http://forum.amilda.org/viewtopic.php?id=77
really is required (after this patch a 'make oldconfig' and rebuild is also
needed!).

See also
http://www.norocketscience.com/forum/to … hichpage=4
which mentions which config option =should= be in the kernel .config after
the make oldconfig

Re: USB mass storage

Hi

Sorry, i forgot about that. After that fix is done, USB shouldn't be so hard.

Sergio
