network performance tests on default firmware

Dear All,

Please find bellow result of the test which I have done on Sweex  289b firmware.
I tested only router LAN performance, bacause via WAN interface I have only 0,5 Mb
internet connection, so not much to test.

In general I am able to archive ~ 82 Mb/s on LAN.

Wget  copy test over HTTP
==================

$ time wget -O /dev/null  10.225.0.4/anyterm/linux-source-2.6.17.tar
--00:02:48--  http://10.225.0.4/anyterm/linux-source-2.6.17.tar
           => `/dev/null'
Connecting to 10.225.0.4:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 233,205,760 (222M) [application/x-tar]

100%[====================================>] 233,205,760   10.67M/s    ETA 00:00

00:03:09 (10.74 MB/s) - `/dev/null' saved [233205760/233205760]

iperf TCP test with TCP window size: 85.3 KByte
===============================
$ ./iperf.exe -c 10.225.0.4
------------------------------------------------------------
Client connecting to 10.225.0.4, TCP port 5001
TCP window size: 8.00 KByte (default)
------------------------------------------------------------
[1900] local 10.225.0.100 port 2391 connected with 10.225.0.4 port 5001
[ ID] Interval       Transfer     Bandwidth
[1900]  0.0-10.0 sec  98.0 MBytes  82.1 Mbits/sec

After updating to the Amilda firmware, i will make this test again.

Best regards,

Re: network performance tests on default firmware

Hi

AMiLDA should make a difference when it comes to LAN performance, as the packet switching is done by hardware. AMiLDA only configures the switch interface as does the default firmware.

I'll like to view your results running AMiLDA anyway.

Regards,

Sergio

Re: network performance tests on default firmware

Since i have the amilda firmware i tried the wget copy from my pc to the router. I managed to copy a 41MB linux-2.6.19.tar.bz2 in just about 30 sec with an average speed of 1.5MB/s. Strange that usually on the wan side i get 2MB/s. Could this be the result of running wget on the router?

Re: network performance tests on default firmware

Hi! a have an access point from edimax (Br 6216 Mg) and the producer sad that he has MIMO but the tests that i made shows a maxim  throuthput  22Mbps. I know that 802.11g has this bit rate, and with MIMO the bit rate should be much bigger (minimum 50, 60 Mbps ).
Can anybody  tell me why?
i need an answer fast.
Thancks
